TOILE de JOUY

Less refined and more ironic, toile patterns are showing up on the Fall 19 runways. Traditional scenic and pastoral florals versions inspired by historic upholstery and decorative curtains. While toile fabric itself has more of a linen texture, these toile patterns feel more evolved as they are printed on silks, sateens and flat faced fabrics. Mostly seen on light grounds with earthy browns, navy, sepias and rustic red pattern work.
